The Green Apple Day of Service is a nationwide event where advocates from around the world, including students, teachers, parents, community members, and organizations come together in support of healthy, sustainable schools. This was probably one of the most complex projects that TAP has facilitated thus far. We initiated a Green Apple Day of Service project in Portland that included several projects to benefit the East End Community School (EECS). These projects included a green building tour for staff and community members, green building signage-making, native planting and restoration work in the Native Woodlands Garden, and educational plant label-making. All projects were completed, and the school was very appreciative to get help coordinating this effort.
